賀臺大土木系校友蔡宛珊在美任教榮獲美國國科會NSF授與青年科學家最高獎NSF CAREER Award

臺大土木系校友蔡宛珊博士(Dr. Christina Tsai)，現任美國紐約州立大學水牛城分校 (State University of New York/SUNY at Buffalo) 土木系副教授，於2008年初榮獲美國國科會 (National Science Foundation) 的 CAREER Award。該獎項是美國國科會頒予美國大學青年教授的最高榮譽獎項，其原名為 New Young Investigator Award （1991-1994) 或 Presidential Young Investigator Award　(1991年以前)。

根據美國國科會，“CAREER: The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations.”

蔡宛珊教授的研究領域為stochastic environmental hydraulics and hydrology，其獲獎之研究主要在推導新的不確定性數學模型用以探討偶發劇烈事件如洪流等對於 sediment and pollutant transport 之影響，並發展風險評量模型用以評估沙粒或污染物於流體中受劇烈事件影響之模擬結果 ，具體改進了傳統 deterministic sediment transport modeling 之限制。

蔡宛珊教授於1995年臺大土木系畢業，1997年於美國伊利諾大學香檳分校（University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign）取得土木碩士，2000年取得數學碩士，2001年取得土木博士學位。蔡教授於2002年至 SUNY Buffalo 擔任助理教授，於2008年升等為副教授並獲終身聘任（tenure）。蔡教授師承 Open channel hydraulics and risk analysis 大師 Prof. Ben Yen。
