POSITION OFFERED IN MODERN CHINESE STUDIES

The Faculty of Cultural Studies at Eberhard Karls University of Tuebingen invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position (C4 professorship) in Modern Chinese Studies at the Institute of Chinese and Korean Studies beginning in the fall of 2002。~)The disciplinary area of the position shall be the politics, society or economy of modern and contemporary China, with special focus on Taiwan. Moreover, the person sought for this position should have an interest in developments in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Chinese diaspora. Applicants should have completed substantial postdoctoral research (equivalent to the German academic degree called Habilitation), i.e. at least have written a second book on a topic different from their Ph.D thesis.~)Applicants will be expected to teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and to contribute significantly to the Development of cross-disciplinary research and teaching. Native or near-native fluency in modern Mandarin Chinese and English is expected.
